The Cyprus Third Age Observatory (CTAO), as part of the Mentoring Across Borders (MAB) project, organized a training seminar for mentors at its offices on April 25, 2024. This three-hour seminar, conducted in Greek, was attended by Observatory members interested in becoming mentors.
Kyriaki Sarri, a Psychologist and CTAO's First Officer led the training. The seminar featured a well-prepared and comprehensive presentation of the MAB titled 'Training Material for Mentors.' The roles and responsibilities of a mentor werethoroughly explained, including the characteristics of influential mentors, the nature of mentees, reasonsfor seeking mentorship, mentoring procedures, and the rules, terms, and conditions involved. Additionally, there was an in-depth demonstration of the online platform and its procedures, ensuringparticipants felt well-prepared and confident in their potential role as mentors. Participants expressed great enthusiasm for the project.
The trainers addressed numerous questionsregarding procedural aspects and provided guidance. After the seminar, participants completed evaluation forms during face-to-face interviews with Mrs. Sarri.
