The Age-Friendly Cities (AFC) project aims to create urban environments that are friendly to older people, enhancing social participation, accessibility, independence, and quality of life for older adults. Through research, training activities, policy guides, and collaboration with local authorities and communities, the project seeks to help shape sustainable and inclusive cities for all.
The Cyprus Third Age Observatory, in collaboration with the Antama organisation from Greece, successfully held the kick-off meeting of the European project on 29–30 September 2025 at the offices of the Cyprus Third Age Observatory in Limassol. During the two-day meeting, the partners had the opportunity to jointly plan the next implementation steps and discussed the project’s objectives, management and coordination mechanisms, communication and dissemination strategies, as well as the timeline of activities.
This meeting laid the foundations for a productive partnership between the partners, aiming at the exchange of best practices for the creation of Age-Friendly Cities, the strengthening of social participation and the quality of life of older people, and the development of a Policy and Practice Guide that will serve as a tool for local authorities and organisations.
The Age-Friendly Cities project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme and is aligned with European goals for social inclusion, active ageing, and sustainable urban development.
